This was a collaborative piece between Susan Watts and myself. We explored what was said in conversations and what was not said. We decided to become our alto egos Joan Crawford and Bette Davis in the only film they appeared in together “Whatever happened to Baby Jane?”. It is a sinister film about the rivalry between two sisters. They both vie for the attention of their Father in early childhood. But the film is set when they are both quite old and Blanche is in a wheel chair and ‘cared for’ by Jane. The tension comes from the undercurrent of lies that are held as weapons of power.
